Cerebrum definition What does the cerebrum do

Cerebrum, or forebrain, is the largest part of the brain, composing about 70 percent of that organ.
Cerebrum is situated beneath the roof of the skull and consists of two hemispheres that are separated lengthwise by a layered division. The outer layer of each hemisphere is the cerebral cortex, the section of the brain sometimes referred to as “gray matter.”
Within the cerebral hemisphere is white matter consisting of three kinds of fibers that connect the hemispheres, convey impulses to and from the cortex and the spinal cord, and connect different areas of the cortex with each other.

What does the cerebrum do?

The cerebrum performs a variety of tasks, including controlling the sensory and voluntary motor functions, as well as such higher processes as thought and memory.

Definition of Bacteria

A good definition of bacteria is that, they are organisms, microscopic in nature, they are unicellular and reproduce asexually. They do not contain steroids, cholesterol, mitosis or meiosis and doesnt have membrane bound nucleus or organelles e.g chloroplasts and mitochondria. Theyve different shapes such as rods, spheres, spirals and so on. They are an ancient form of life and most of them have spores that are resistant to dryness e.t.c



Definition of Bacteria

Its interesting how bacteria can multiply given a favorable condition. For instance, what happens is that under good growing condition, a new cell wall grows at the center and forms two daughter cells with the same genetic material as the mother cell. Amazingly, in a span of just twenty minutes, the two daughter cells get divided into four. Basically this goes on increasing in a pattern of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and so on.


They are prokaryotic cells and thus they lack membrane bound organelle in the cytoplasm. Generally they contain less intracellular structures and they do not have mitochondria, nucleus, chloroplasts and organelles such as endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The contents of their cells are covered by a cell wall which is also the barrier for holding nutrients and proteins.

Though many who doesnt know dismiss bacteria as mere germs, they play important roles in human existence. In fact, decomposition, nitrogen fixation i.e replacing nitrogen in the soil needed by plants for survival and also digestion of food as well as production of vitamins. For instance, products like cheese, yogurt and butter milk rely on it during preparation.
